Can I control a light table from another device?
Yes. Open the Light Table screen on the device you want to control, start Remote Control on it, then drive it either from a web browser on the same WiFi or from the app on a second phone or tablet. One remote can drive several tables at once.
Does it work without WiFi?
It depends which two devices, and this is the one place the platforms genuinely differ:

Each platform has its own way of talking to a device nearby with no router in between, and the two are not the same technology and cannot see each other:
- Apple devices use AWDL, the same peer-to-peer radio behind AirDrop.
- Android devices use Nearby Connections, which picks between Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Aware depending on the hardware.
There is no standard both understand, so an iPhone cannot discover an Android table device-to-device however close together they are. Put both on the same WiFi — even a phone's hotspot — and they find each other immediately, because over a network they speak exactly the same protocol.
Is cross-platform control supported at all?
Yes, fully, as long as there is a shared network. An Android phone drives an iPad exactly as it drives another Android device, and vice versa: the same commands, the same scene library transfer, the same effects. The remote-control protocol is identical on both platforms — only the discovery differs.
What does the Android app need Bluetooth for?
Only for finding tables when there is no shared network. It is off until you turn it on, in Remote Control, and the app works completely without it. On Android 11 and older the system also requires a location permission to scan for nearby devices; the app declares it only for those versions, never for newer ones, and never uses it for location.
Is any of this sent to the internet?
No. Remote Control traffic goes directly between your devices — over your local network, or directly between the two radios. None of it reaches us or anyone else. It is also not encrypted, which the app tells you the first time you start the server, so use it on networks you trust.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts, and the app collects nothing about you. See the Privacy Policy.
