Privacy Policy
Version: July 25, 2026 · This is the current version.
Changes in this version:
- Added Remote Control and Local Network Use section (optional local server, device name announcement, searching for other light tables, direct device-to-device transfer, unencrypted local traffic, nothing sent to us).
- Clarified that settings and saved scenes are stored only on your device and that exports go where you choose.
- Clarified that ad-related data collection is performed by Google AdMob and that identifiers may be personal information under GDPR/CCPA.
- Named the data controller, and added data retention, international transfer, and UK GDPR coverage.
- Changed the contact email to appstore@termini.me.
- Added the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
- Added a Children's Privacy section (the App is not directed to under-16s).
- Made clear that this policy is notice rather than consent, and that advertising consent is asked for separately through Google's consent form.
- Described the App Tracking Transparency prompt and what declining it does.
- Added US state privacy detail: non-discrimination for exercising a right, authorized agents, and how to opt out in the App.
- Explained automated decision-making in personalised advertising.
- The App no longer has its own end user license agreement; Apple's standard Licensed Application EULA applies instead.
This Privacy Policy tells you what happens with your information when you use Photographers Light Table (the "App"). William Termini (ABN 47 283 458 067) ("we", "us", "our") makes and operates the App.
This policy is a notice, not a consent form. The App asks for advertising consent separately, through Google's consent form. You can change that consent at any time. The App has no license agreement of its own. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
For the GDPR and the UK GDPR, the data controller is William Termini (ABN 47 283 458 067), Australia, at appstore@termini.me. Google is a separate data controller for the advertising data below. Google decides how it uses that data.
1. What Is Collected
We collect nothing ourselves. We run no analytics and no crash reporting. Your settings and saved scenes stay on your device. Scene files you export go where you choose. If you delete the App, its local data is deleted.
Google AdMob shows the advertisements in the App and collects this data:
- IP address. Google can use it to estimate the general location of the device.
- Product interactions: app launch, taps, and video views.
- Diagnostics: crash logs, launch time, hang rate, and energy use of the App and the ads SDK.
- Identifiers: the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA), the app set ID, and identifiers for signed-in accounts on the device.
Some of this data, such as identifiers and IP address, can be personal information under laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA. Google processes it under its own privacy policy (https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/) and its partner-sites notice (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites).
Apple processes purchases (Section 3).
Retention. We hold no personal information, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete on our systems. Google keeps the data above under its own retention schedule.
International transfers. Google can process this data outside your country, including in the United States, under Google's safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. We transfer no data ourselves.
App Tracking Transparency. iOS asks for your permission before the advertising identifier can be used to track you across apps. If you refuse, personalised ads cannot use that identifier. You can change your answer in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
2. Remote Control and Your Local Network
Remote Control is optional and off by default. When you start it, the App runs a small server on your device.
- Nearby device access is on unless you turn it off. While it is on, the App announces your device's name and local network address, so other light tables can find it. Your device's name often contains your own name.
- Devices that connect can view, change, save, rename, delete, and export your light table settings and saved scenes. A connected device can download a copy of your whole scene library. That copy is then outside our control.
- Anyone who can reach your device on the network can do this, unless you turn on the optional PIN.
- Remote Control traffic on your local network is not encrypted. This includes the PIN. Use the feature only on networks you trust.
- This traffic goes directly between the devices. None of it comes to us, to Google, or to anyone else.
When you open the Remote Control screen, the App also looks for other light tables nearby and shows the names they advertise. iOS can ask for Local Network permission the first time.
3. In-App Purchases
The one-time "Premium" purchase removes advertisements. You can restore it on your other devices with Restore Purchases in Settings. Apple handles all payments and refunds under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
4. How the Data Is Used
Google uses the data in Section 1 to serve advertisements in the App. We do not receive it and we do not disclose it, except where the law requires disclosure or where disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or safety, or the rights or safety of others. What Google does with it is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
5. Your Rights — EEA, UK, and Switzerland
This section applies if you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. References to the GDPR include the UK GDPR and the equivalent provisions of the Swiss FADP.
Legal basis. Personalised advertising, and storage on your device for advertising, rely on your consent, given through Google's consent form (IAB TCF Purposes 1, 3, and 4). You can review or withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Ad Privacy. Without consent, the App requests only limited ads, which use no device storage. Personalised advertising involves profiling. We make no solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Your rights. You have the rights the GDPR gives you: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to your supervisory authority — the ICO in the UK, the FDPIC in Switzerland, or your national authority in the EEA.
How to use them. We hold no personal data about you, so we cannot ourselves show, correct, or delete advertising data. Contact us at appstore@termini.me and we will tell you how to put your request to Google, and how to stop the advertising identifier being available on your device. Your scenes and settings are already under your control: Settings → Backup all data exports them, and Settings → Delete all data erases them. We may ask you to verify your identity. We respond within one month.
6. US State Privacy Rights
This section applies if you live in a US state with a privacy law, such as California.
What is collected. In the last 12 months, Google AdMob collected these CCPA/CPRA categories through the App: identifiers (IP address, IDFA) and internet activity (app interactions, crash logs, performance data). We collect none of it and hold none of it. We do not collect sensitive personal information.
Sale and sharing. We do not sell your personal information for money. Passing advertising identifiers to Google for cross-context behavioral advertising counts as "sharing" under the CCPA/CPRA.
Your rights. Depending on your state, you can know, delete, or correct personal information, and you can opt out of sale or sharing. To opt out in the App, use Settings → Ad Privacy → Do Not Sell or Share My Data, where your region's consent framework shows it. If you do not see it, or for any other request, email appstore@termini.me. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof of their authority. We do not treat you differently for using a right. We respond within 45 days.
Do Not Track. The App is not a browser, so it does not receive Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. The in-app control above is the way to opt out. Your choice is stored on your device in the standard format Google's SDK reads.
7. Children
The App is a photography tool for a general audience. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. The App does not ask your age. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us at appstore@termini.me and we will tell you how to put the request to Google. You can also turn off tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
8. Security
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. We hold no personal information about you, which limits what can be exposed from our side.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make a material change, the App asks you to review the new policy before you continue. Minor changes take effect when posted. The date at the top shows the current version.
10. Contact
Send questions about this policy or the App to William Termini (ABN 47 283 458 067), Australia, at appstore@termini.me.
Nothing in this policy limits any right or remedy that the law does not allow us to exclude, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
